"The Message," is a paraphrase
of the Bible that was
authored by only one
man--Eugene H. Peterson. His book is published by NavPress, the
publishing arm for The Navigators, a "Christian"
Parachurch organization. They say that Mr. Peterson's "private
interpretation" of God's Word was "not compiled by a
committee," but was reviewed by "theologians"
and
"exegetical
consultants" who supposedly validated and confirmed the accuracy
of his work, but final
discretion was always left to Peterson.
It has been reported that Eugene H.
Peterson is an ordained minister of the United Presbyterian Church, USA,
and has been given the title
of "Professor Emeritus of Spiritual Theology" at Regent College in Vancouver,
BC, along with several academic degrees.
When I consider Peterson's
"credentials,"
and the various "Christian" ministries
and individuals that seem to approve of his "Message," I Am
reminded of what the LORD spoke through a true prophet of God.
I Samuel 16:7 "But the LORD
said unto Samuel, Look not on his countenance, or on the height of his stature;
because I have refused him: for the LORD seeth not as a man seeth: for man
looketh on the outward appearance, but the LORD looketh on the heart."
Several years ago, I read an exposé of "The Message" for the first time, and the
following statement is still my view of this book that continues to be
promoted by so many leaders in the "Christian world."
"This
is really unbelievable that anyone that has the 'Spirit' of Christ in them would
even accept this as 'The Word' of God. In fact, I Am certain that anyone who
truly, from their heart, believes and promotes this abominable 'work of the
Devil' IS NOT 'born again' of the Holy Spirit of Almighty God, and are headed to
outer Darkness, where there WILL BE weeping and gnashing of teeth."
12/11/2004 —C.
Read
Since that time I have done much research on Peterson's "Message," and it is
intriguing that God would lead me to make such a statement, especially
considering Peterson's concept of "gnashing of teeth."
I Am absolutely repulsed by Peterson's so-called translation of the Bible, and I
have included excerpts from his book to compare with God's Word, to show
how irreverent "The Message" is. Please take time to read this as it
touches on very important principles about the Kingdom of Heaven.
Matthew 8:11-12
King James Version: "11And I say unto you, That many shall
come from the east and west, and shall sit down with Abraham, and Isaac, and
Jacob, in the Kingdom of Heaven.
12But the children of the Kingdom shall be cast out into outer
Darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth."
The Message:
"11This man is the vanguard of many outsiders who will soon be coming
from all directions—streaming in from the east, pouring in from the west,
sitting down at God’s kingdom banquet alongside Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.
12Then those who grew up ‘in the faith’ but had no faith will find
themselves out in the cold, outsiders to grace and wondering what happened."
Matthew 13:41-43
King James Version: "41The Son of man shall send forth His
angels, and they shall gather out of His Kingdom all things that offend, and
them which do iniquity;
42and shall cast them into a furnace of fire: there shall be
wailing and gnashing of teeth. 43Then shall the righteous shine
forth as the Sun in the Kingdom of their Father. Who hath ears to hear, let him
hear."
The Message:
"41The Son of Man will send his angels, weed out the thistles from
his kingdom,
42pitch them in the trash, and be done with them. They are going to
complain to high heaven, but nobody is going to listen. 43At the
same time, ripe, holy lives will mature and adorn the kingdom of their Father.
Are you listening to this? Really listening?"
Matthew 13:49-50
King James Version: "49So shall it be at
The End of the world: the angels shall come forth, and sever the wicked from
among the just,
50and shall cast them into the furnace of fire:
there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth."
The Message:
"49That’s how it will be when the curtain comes down on history. The
angels will come and cull the bad fish 50and throw them in the
garbage. There will be a lot of desperate complaining, but it won’t do any
good."
Matthew 22:11-14
King James Version: "11And when the King came in to see the
guests, he saw there a man which had not on a wedding garment: 12and
he saith unto him, Friend, how camest thou in hither not having a wedding
garment? And he was speechless.
13Then said the King to the servants, Bind him hand and foot, and
take him away, and cast him into outer Darkness; there shall be weeping and
gnashing of teeth. 14For many are called, but few are chosen."
The Message:
"11When the king entered and looked over the scene, he spotted a man
who wasn’t properly dressed. 12He said to him, ‘Friend, how dare you
come in here looking like that?’
The man was
speechless. 13Then the king told his servants, ’Get him out of
here—fast. Tie him up and ship him to hell.
And make sure he doesn’t get back in. 14That’s what I mean when I
say, ‘Many get invited; only a few make it.’ "
Matthew 24:45-51
King James Version: "45Who then is a faithful and wise
servant, whom his lord hath made ruler over his household, to give them meat in
due season? 46Blessed is that servant, whom his lord when he cometh
shall find so doing. 47Verily I say unto you, That he shall make him
ruler over all his goods. 48But and if that evil servant shall say in
his heart, My lord delayeth his coming;
49and shall begin to smite his fellow-servants, and to eat and drink
with the drunken; 50the lord of that servant shall come in a day when
he looketh not for him, and in an hour that he is not aware of, 51and
shall cut him asunder, and appoint him his portion with the hypocrites: there
shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth."
The Message:
"45Who here qualifies for the job of overseeing the kitchen? A person
the Master can depend on to feed the workers on time each day. 46Someone
the Master can drop in on unannounced and always find him doing his job. A
God-blessed man or woman, I tell you. 47It won’t be long before the
Master will put this person in charge of the whole operation. 48But
if that person only looks out for himself, and the minute the Master is away
does what he pleases—49abusing the help and throwing drunken parties
for his friends—50the Master is going to show up when he least
expects it,
51and make hash of him. He’ll end up in the dump with the hypocrites,
out in the cold shivering, teeth chattering."

Eugene H. Peterson presents a false message of what it means to be "cast into
outer Darkness," and he may make light of it now, but it is a place of eternal
torment, and one day all who have willfully rejected God and His Word will find
themselves in that horrible place with no way out!
It is inconceivable to me
that any
reputable publisher would promote this total "departure away from the Truth,"
but NavPress
is not the only guilty one! Zondervan released the NIV/The Message™ Parallel
Bible and the NASB/The Message™ Parallel Bible to the public in September 2004;
and according to the write up that was posted at Zondervan's website, they are
completely overcome by "The Message" too.
From the Zondervan
Website as of 8 February 2005
Description of The Message: "Designed to read like a
letter from God, The Message presents Scripture the way it originally
appeared, as a naturally flowing narrative. Using only the original Greek and
Hebrew manuscripts, The Message’s creator, Eugene Peterson, began
by setting the New Testament, Psalms, Proverbs in contemporary English, free of
distracting verse numbers and stiff, formal language. The result has been a
warm, highly readable paraphrase that reveals the richly personal nature of
God’s Word. The Old Testament followed, and the complete Message Bible was
released in 2002. Used in both public preaching and private devotions, The
Message has captured the hearts of millions of readers, enriching their
understanding of Scripture and deepening their faith."
[Emphasis mine]
End of Zondervan Excerpt
Rick Warren has quoted quite extensively from "The Message" of Peterson in "The
Purpose Driven Life," (published by Zondervan-2002,) and is the driving force
as to why it "captured the hearts of millions," but I Am sure it will
not be "enriching their understanding of Scripture."

Furthermore, it is absolutely
hypocritical
for
Zondervan to imply that the beautifully inspired and most accurate
translation of the Scriptures is "stiff, formal language," especially
considering the vast amounts of money that I Am sure they have made on the King
James Bible.
As for the "distracting verse numbers" that they complained about, apparently
they were not that distracting to someone of influence, since NavPress
added them to subsequent editions of "The Message."
Consider what Alexander Scourby said about the Holy Bible
"I have narrated over 500 books, but recording the Bible was my most memorable
experience...Because it is the one book that has the power to inspire,
encourage, comfort and change the life of the person who hears it...I have been
greatly humbled and moved by the many letters I have received from people around
the world telling me how God used the Bible narrations to change their lives and
the lives of their loved ones, encourage them in their hour of need, and even
healed them as they listened to the Words of Life.
I am very honored that God chose me as an instrument to narrate His Eternal
Word....Although many other versions of the Bible have been written, the King
James Version is my favorite. It is still recognized by Bible scholars and
academics as the most accurate and beautiful rendition...the King James Version
has no equal."

Another very interesting statement to consider is what
the late
President Ronald Reagan said in his radio essay, on 6 September 1977,
regarding the new "translations" that were coming out.
From the book, "Reagan, In
His Own Hand"
(Page 409 Hardcover)
"It is my understanding that the Bible--(both Old & New Testaments) has been the
best selling book in the entire history of printing. Now another attempt has
been made to improve it. I say another because there have been several
fairly recent efforts to—quote 'make the bible more readable and
understandable'—unquote.
...Now we are to have 'The Good News Bible' which will be in, 'the natural
English of everyday adult conversation.' I'm sure the scholars and clergymen
supervised by the American Bible Society were sincerely imbued with the thought
that they were taking religion to the people with their 'Good News Bible' but I
can't help feeling we should instead be taking the people to religion and
lifting them with the beauty of language that has outlived the centuries.
The sponsors of the 'Good News' version boast that their bible is as readable as
the daily paper—and so it is. But do readers of the daily news find themselves
moved to wonder, 'at the gracious words which proceeded out of His mouth?' "

Mr. Peterson's book has been advertised to read like "a gripping novel," but it
is filled with lies, and must be rejected by all who love the Truth. The
following interview was published
in a popular "Christian" magazine,
three months after the release of Peterson's book.
Interview of Eugene H.
Peterson by Doug LeBlanc
from the archives of
"Christianity Today" dated
7 October 2002
"I Didn't Want to Be Cute"
"Q. Do you sometimes use The Message for your own devotional
reading?
A. My wife does, but I don't...
When I finished the New Testament, I really couldn't read The
Message. It was like I lived in that world, and I didn't know if it was going to
be accepted. I just put it away. But occasionally now I'll pick it up and
remember what I was doing.
Q. Do you think The Message will be well suited for reading in
worship?
A. When I'm in a congregation where somebody uses it in the
Scripture reading, it makes me a little uneasy. I would never recommend it be
used as saying, 'Hear the Word of God from The Message.' But it surprises me how
many do. You can't tell people they can't do it. But I guess I'm a
traditionalist, and I like to hear those more formal languages in the pulpit.
Q. As The Message has attracted critical praise and a fairly
substantial audience already, is there anything else that could make your joy
complete?
A. To tell the truth, I'm quite detached from it. It wasn't my
idea, I've been trying to be a servant to this text for 12 years now, and so
it's almost like it's happening to somebody else. I'm surprised at how little
emotion I feel about this."
End of Excerpt from Peterson's
Interview with Christianity Today
Mr. Peterson obviously was not coached very
well before this interview, and
I Am sure NavPress did
not appreciate the negative "light" he put on his book during that interview
with LeBlanc of
Christianity Today.
It appears that the
creator of "The Message," is
not that interested in reading his own "translation," and I Am sure that Eugene
H. Peterson was not filled with the "joy of the LORD" while working on his book.
The
following is excerpts from
interviews that NavPress posted at their website in their
Media/Promotional Material, that are more restrained.
NavPress,
Lisa Marshall, Talks With Eugene H. Peterson
Marketing Material posted at
NavPress.com
as of 22 December 2004
"NP: On what date did you start and complete the translation of
the Bible?
EP: I started it in June of 1991 and completed it in November
2001.
NP: You spent eight hours a day immersed in the Scriptures. How
did that impact your spirituality/relationship with the Author of the
Scriptures?
EP: Working on The Message wasn't that much different from what I
have done most of my adult life...
NP: What was your favorite book to translate?
EP: Isaiah was my favorite...
NP: Which book was the most difficult?
EP: John...
NP: Were there moments when you wanted to quit?
EP: No. I love doing this work...I often sense that for 40 years
I had been in the process of being prepared to do precisely this work...
NP: What is your response to skepticism regarding the validity of
The Message?
EP: I take my critics seriously, listen to them, often learn from
them...I have to more or less 'pray myself' out of their disapproval.
This is what I have been called to do...and ordained by my
denomination and that has been tested and validated by many godly men
and women
in Christ's church...And as I have done the work, I have been
surrounded, counseled, and in a sense 'guarded' by learned and devout men
and women."
End of Except
The tone of that interview
was very different than the one by LeBlanc, and did you notice that Eugene H.
Peterson never once said that God led him to write "The Message?" Apparently he
had to "pray" himself out of believing the Truth of what his critics were
saying, but he embraced the lies of those who "guarded" him while he was
re-writing the Bible.
NavPress Publisher, Kent Wilson, on The Message
Marketing Material posted at
NavPress.com
as of 22 December 2004
"Q. Has there been a general acceptance of The Message among
pastors? Any one particular denomination more than others?
A. There has been a lot of enthusiastic support from pastors of
many different denominations from all over the world. Here is what a few of them
are saying about The Message:
'I use it and recommend it unreservedly.' Rev. J. A. Thompson
Christ Church Anglican, Woodbridge, Ontario.
'The Message is very easy to read, inspiring in its
presentation.' Jay Scribner, First Baptist Church, Branson, MO.
'The Message is destined to become a devotional classic...a
powerful pastoral tool...' Jack Hayford, The Church on the Way, Van Nuys,
CA.
Q. Are you seeing a new interest in spiritual matters,
particularly Bible reading, since the events of Sept.11th? Has there been any
special promotion for the NYC area?
A. We have worked with The Salvation Army to distribute
10,000 copies of The Message of Hope at Ground Zero in New York City..."
End of Excerpts
Not only did NavPress use
the 9/11 attack to promote their "Message," but three years later they targeted
the vulnerable victims of the very devastating Tsunami of 26 December 2004 to
get "The Message" out.
[As
of 21 February 2005 - Official Tsunami Death Toll ranges from 169,070 to
178,118—with most victims in Indonesia, but with Sri Lanka, Thailand, and India
also very hard hit. Tens of thousands of people are still missing, with most
presumed dead.
As of 31 January 2010 the final death toll
was approximately 230,000.]

The Christian Booksellers Association (CBA) also helped "The Message" gain
recognition through their promotional material posted at CBAonline when I
visited their site on 20 February 2005.
CBA Promo of "The Message"
dated 31 January 2005
"Today,
NavPress revealed plans to raise upward of $500,000 for tsunami restoration
efforts by releasing a commemorative-edition Message Bible...A growing list of
artists, authors, and organizations, are partnering with NavPress to raise
awareness for The Message...
NavPress is contributing 100% of net proceeds of The
Message...to Compassion International, World Vision, Global Action, and The
Navigator Tsunami Relief Fund. This commemorative edition releases in
February and is available exclusively online for $20...
NavPress is a leading publisher of discipleship resources through
books, Bible studies, and the best-selling Bible paraphrase The Message.
NavPress imprints include Th1nk books, Piñon Press books, and Discipleship
Journal and Pray! periodicals."
End of CBA promo
They don't mention in their marketing material that
NavPress is the publishing arm for
The Navigators. So basically they will be giving some of the proceeds from
"The Message" back to themselves? And I suppose they will then give a portion to
the victims of the "Tsunami Relief?"
Considering how Eugene H. Peterson and NavPress have handled the Word of
God, I would not trust them with anything! And neither should anyone who loves
the LORD God and His Truth, especially Christians!
NavPress posted at
their website the participating artists, authors, and organizations that were
actively promoting "The Message" of Peterson, and I have noted some of those
endorsements to show who is directly responsible for making this per-version of
the Bible so popular.

Horizons: Exploring Creation
"The Message® will help
many to transfer God's eternal truths to their contemporary lives." —LEIGHTON

The following is Max Lucado's glowing endorsement of "The
Message," that is posted on several
on-line websites, and I
Am sure the approval of this high-profile "Christian author" has greatly
encouraged sales.
"Seems like forever since I’ve picked up a Bible that made the
stories so fresh and new. My name is on that long list of folks who love to read
The Message. What a friend this Bible has become."

2 John 1:9-11 "Whosoever
transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He
that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son.
If there come any unto you,
and bring not this doctrine, receive him not into your house, neither bid
him God speed: For he that biddeth him God speed is partaker of his evil
deeds."
Since updating this article, I see that
there are still so many "Christians" who support "The Message" of Eugene H.
Peterson, and it just proves to me that the "Apostasy" is not a future event,
but it is right now!
I have not heard one word of warning or rebuke from any high profile religious
leaders who have the ability to expose this travesty of Justice; and if God's
people don't protect and defend the Gospel of Jesus Christ when it's under
direct attack, then who will?!
Moreover,
why was no man available to warn unsuspecting souls about this perversion of
God's Word in 1993, when NavPress first began to publish The Message, and before it
could get a stronghold in churches?
The
men who really should be guarding and protecting God's Holy Word and preparing
His people for the very Dark days ahead are sound asleep, and are under an evil
influence while the battles rage on. I just hope that the true men of God will
wake up soon, before it is too late.
"How are the mighty fallen
in the midst of the battle..?" (II Samuel 1:25)
All of this reminds me of why
the LORD had to call upon a woman to judge and counsel His people, since no
reliable men were available to "discern between the righteous and the wicked,
between him that serveth God and him that serveth Him not." (Malachi 3:18)
God used Deborah to help His people win the victory over their enemy, but
consider what she said to Barak when he said he would not go unless she went
with him--"I will surely go with thee: notwithstanding the journey
that thou takest shall not be for thine honour; for the LORD shall sell Sisera
(the enemy) into the hand of a woman." (Judges 4:9)
All those
who take pleasure in sin and willful disobedience to God, will utterly perish
one Dreadful Day because "they received not the love of the Truth, that they
might be saved." But for those who truly love God, but have been overcome by the
lies of the Wicked One, I believe God will spare their lives. What they may have
to go through in the process, I don’t know. Maybe the Great Tribulation?--The
"event" that so many Christians don't seem too worried about, since the
prevailing thought among the "religious leaders" of our day is that the "Church"
will suddenly disappear and will be taken away or "raptured" up to Heaven before
the anti-Christ, a.k.a. the "son of perdition," comes to power.
They believe they will be kept "from the hour of temptation, which shall come
upon all the world, to try them that dwell upon the earth," but they fail to
understand that John, under the divine inspiration of the Holy Spirit, wrote
those words to the faithful Christians at the Church in Philadelphia because
they "kept the word of My patience." (Revelation 3:7-13) And
"spiritually" speaking, I Am certain that promise does not apply to those who approve of
"The Message" of Eugene H. Peterson!"
The Evil One will be revealed in his Time, and according to God's Word, when the
anti-Christ is totally unrestrained he will cause all men regardless of
religious, political, social, or financial status, "to receive a mark in their
right hand, or in their foreheads: and that no man might buy or sell, save he
that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name. Here is
wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is
the number of a man; and his number is Six hundred threescore and six."
(Revelation 13:16-18)
If you have "fallen" for the false gospel "message" of Eugene Peterson
and Rick Warren,
please
bow before God with a sincere and repentant heart and ask Him to show you what
is blinding your eyes to the Truth. And please do not disregard the Voice of the
LORD, and "pray" yourself out of God's
disapproval, as Eugene H. Peterson has obviously done.
Isaiah 9:16-17: "For the leaders of this people cause them to err; and they that
are led of them are destroyed. Therefore the LORD shall have no joy in their
young men, neither shall have mercy on their fatherless and widows: for every
one is an hypocrite and an evildoer, and every mouth speaketh folly. For all
this His anger is not turned away, but His hand is stretched out still."
Peterson claims, "There’s nothing done or said that can’t be forgiven," but
according to God’s Word blasphemy against the Holy Spirit will never
be forgiven, in this world or in the world to come. It is an extremely serious
sin with horrifying and permanent consequences, and I would like to compare the
King James Version with "The Message," to reveal how Peterson has outright lied
about this vital issue. And please read "The Message" for informational
purposes only!
Matthew 12:30-32
King James Version: "30He that is not with Me is against Me;
and he that gathereth not with Me scattereth abroad.
31Wherefore I say unto you, All manner of sin and blasphemy shall be
forgiven unto men: but the blasphemy against the Holy Ghost shall not be
forgiven unto men. 32And whosoever speaketh a word against
the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him: but whosoever speaketh against the
Holy Ghost, it shall not be forgiven him, neither in this world, neither
in the world to come."
The Message: "30This is war, and there is no neutral ground. If
you’re not on my side, you’re the enemy; if you’re not helping, you’re making
things worse. 31There’s nothing done or said that can’t be
forgiven.
But if you deliberately persist in your slanders against God’s Spirit,
you are repudiating the very One who forgives. 32If you reject
the Son of Man out of some misunderstanding, the Holy Spirit can forgive you,
but when you reject the Holy Spirit, you’re sawing off the branch on which
you’re sitting, severing by your own perversity all connection with the One who
forgives."
Mark 3:28-29
King James Version: "28Verily I say unto you, All sins shall
be forgiven unto the sons of men, and blasphemies wherewith soever they shall
blaspheme: 29But
he that shall blaspheme against the Holy Ghost hath never forgiveness,
but is in danger of Eternal Damnation:"
The Message:
"28Listen to this carefully. I’m warning you. There’s nothing done
or said that can’t be forgiven. 29But if you persist in
your slanders
against God’s Holy Spirit, you are repudiating the very One who forgives, sawing
off the branch on which you’re sitting, severing by your own perversity all
connection with the One who forgives."
Luke 12:8-10
King James Version: "8Also I say unto you, Whosoever shall
confess Me before men, him shall the Son of man also confess before the angels
of God: 9But he that denieth Me before men shall be denied before the
angels of God. 10And whosoever shall speak a word against the Son of
man, it shall be forgiven him:
but unto him that blasphemeth against the Holy Ghost it shall not be
forgiven."
The Message: "8Stand up for me among the people
you meet and the Son of Man will stand up for you before all God’s angels.
9But if you pretend you don’t know me, do you think I’ll defend you before
God’s angels? 10If you bad-mouth the Son of Man out of
misunderstanding or ignorance, that can be overlooked. But if you’re
knowingly attacking God himself, taking aim at the Holy Spirit, that won’t be
overlooked."
Rarely will a minister preach about "Blasphemy against the Holy Spirit,"
as it is so unpopular and highly misunderstood. And anyone who uses "The Message"
as the basis of their knowledge it will not be the Truth!
Satan desires to lead God's people into the Dark, yet call it the Light; and the
Devil is using "The Message" of Eugene H. Peterson to lure many people
into a
"false gospel" message, and away from God.
Throughout Peterson's book he replaces "gospel" with
"message" as if they are one in the same word. He has attempted to superimpose
his "Message" over the Gospel of Jesus Christ, but those who are of Christ, and
knowledgeable of the tactics of the Devil will see through his lies.
Consider how
Peterson handles the word "Gospel" in his
book:
Replaced
"Gospel" with "message" 71 times.
Replaced
"Gospel" with other words 16 times.
Deleted
"Gospel" altogether 12 times.
Peterson retains "gospel" just
once, but completely misrepresents the Truth of what was actually written in the
text. Please compare how he presents a totally different "message," than that of
the King James.
Romans 15:16
King James Version:
"That I should be the minister of Jesus Christ to the Gentiles,
ministering the Gospel of God, that the offering up of the Gentiles might be
acceptable, being sanctified by the Holy Ghost."
The Message: "this priestly and
gospel work of serving the spiritual needs of the non-Jewish outsiders so
they can be presented as an acceptable offering to God, made whole and holy by
God’s Holy Spirit."
John Stine, an editor at NavPress, persuaded Peterson to translate other
New Testament books after he read his rendition of Galatians—the place where
Peterson began to rewrite God's Word. So they obviously knew from the beginning
what the terrible consequences would be for those who "pervert the Gospel of
Christ."
Galatians 1:6-12
King James Version: "6I marvel that ye are so soon removed
from Him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel:
7which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would
pervert the gospel of Christ. 8But though we, or an angel from
Heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached
unto you, let him be accursed. 9As we said before, so say I now
again, If any man preach any other gospel
unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed.
10For do I now
persuade men, or God? Or do I seek to please men? For if I yet pleased men, I
should not be the servant of Christ. 11But I certify you, brethren,
that the gospel which was preached of me is not after man. 12For
I neither received it of man, neither was I taught it, but by the revelation of
Jesus Christ."
The Message: "6I can’t believe your
fickleness—how easily you have turned traitor to him who called you by the grace
of Christ by embracing a variant message! 7It is not a minor
variation, you know; it is completely other, an alien message, a no-message,
a lie about God. Those who are provoking this agitation among you are
turning the Message of Christ on its head. 8Let me be
blunt: If one of us—even if an angel from heaven!-were to preach something
other than what we preached originally, let him be cursed. 9I
said it once; I’ll say it again: If anyone, regardless of reputation or
credentials,
preaches something other than what you received originally, let him be
cursed.
10Do you think I speak this strongly in order to manipulate crowds?
Or curry favor with God? Or get popular applause? If my goal was popularity, I
wouldn’t bother being Christ’s slave. 11Know this—I am most emphatic
here, friends—this great Message I delivered to you is not mere human
optimism. 12I didn’t receive it through traditions, and I wasn’t
taught it in some school. I got it straight from God, received the Message
directly from Jesus Christ."
For those who have "eyes to
see" it is obvious that Eugene H. Peterson is listening to a
false-Christ, and his "message" is
from the anti-Christ! And one Great and Dreadful Day it will be evident for all
to SEE.
Those who endorse and have
actively
supported Peterson's message
cannot be trusted; and by
being willing to accept him they had to deny the "doctrine of Christ," and
are therefore a partaker of his evil deeds!
2 John 1:9-11 "Whosoever
transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He
that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son.
If there come any unto you,
and bring not this doctrine, receive him not into your house, neither bid
him God speed: For he that biddeth him God speed is partaker of his evil
deeds."
It is just reprehensible what this man has done with the Holy Scriptures! I have
not even begun to mention the more outrageous instances where Peterson perverts
and distorts God's Word, but I have tried to present enough evidence to prove
that he is guilty of changing the Truth of God into a lie. And the following is
some more examples whereby NavPress and its author has indeed replaced
the "Gospel" with their "Message."

[End of Excerpts from "The
Message" of Peterson]
Satan is a liar, and the
Father of lies! God only speaks the Truth and He has no hidden agenda. The Devil
deceives and manipulates people in order to get his way, and he will do anything
he can to lead you to Hell. And his ultimate desire is for you to end up in the
Lake of Fire with him!
Peterson's "per-version" of the Bible totally disregards the wrath of God, but
one Dreadful Day all those who reject God will experience His wrath, and it will
be much worse for those who have tampered with His Word.
I have one last example from
"The Message" of Peterson that I have compared with the Holy Scriptures to show
just how blasphemous and disrespectful his book really is. And if
you are one who truly desires
to protect and defend the "True Gospel," please take time to read this,
especially when you consider the vast amounts of people that have been
influenced by those who have "fallen" for the lies and deceptions of the Devil,
and have promoted his work in the "Christian world."
King James Version of
1 Samuel 16:4-14
“And Samuel did that which
the LORD spake, and came to Bethlehem. And the elders of the town trembled at
his coming, and said, Comest thou peaceably?
And he said, Peaceably: I am
come to sacrifice unto the LORD: sanctify yourselves, and come with me to the
sacrifice. And he sanctified Jesse and his sons, and called them to the
sacrifice.
And it came to pass, when
they were come, that he looked on Eliab, and said, Surely the LORD'S anointed
is before him.
But the LORD said unto
Samuel, Look not on his countenance, or on the height of his stature; because
I have refused him: for the LORD seeth not as man seeth; for man
looketh on the outward appearance, but the LORD looketh on the heart.
Then Jesse called Abinadab,
and made him pass before Samuel. And he said, Neither hath the LORD chosen this.
Then Jesse made Shammah to
pass by. And he said, Neither hath the LORD chosen this. Again, Jesse made seven of
his sons to pass before Samuel. And Samuel said unto Jesse, The LORD hath not
chosen these.
And Samuel said unto Jesse,
Are here all thy children? And he said, There remaineth yet the
youngest, and, behold, he keepeth the sheep. And Samuel said unto Jesse,
Send and fetch him: for we will not sit down till he come hither.
And he sent, and brought him
in. Now he was ruddy, and withal of a beautiful countenance, and
goodly to look to. And the LORD said, Arise, anoint him: for this is he.
Then Samuel took the horn of
oil, and anointed him in the midst of his brethren: and the Spirit of the
LORD came upon David from that day forward. So Samuel rose up, and went to
Ramah.
But the Spirit of the LORD
departed from Saul, and an evil spirit from the LORD troubled him.”
From "The Message" 1 Samuel
16:4-14
"Samuel
did what God told him. When he
arrived at Bethlehem, the town fathers greeted him, but apprehensively. 'Is
there something wrong?'
'Nothing's wrong. I've come to sacrifice this heifer and lead you in the worship
of God. Prepare yourselves, be consecrated, and join me in
worship.' He made sure Jesse and his sons were also consecrated and called to
worship.
When
they arrived, Samuel took one look at Eliab and thought, 'Here he is!
God's anointed!'
But
God told Samuel, 'Looks aren't everything. Don't be impressed
with his looks and stature. I've already eliminated him.
God judges persons differently than
humans do. Men and women look at the face;
God looks into the heart.'
Jesse
then called up Abinadab and presented him to Samuel. Samuel said, 'This man
isn't God's choice either.'
Next
Jesse presented Shammah. Samuel said, 'No, this man isn't either.'
Jesse
presented his seven sons to Samuel. Samuel was blunt with Jesse, 'God
hasn't chosen any of these.'
Then he
asked Jesse, 'Is this it? Are there no more sons?'
'Well,
yes, there's the runt. But he's out tending the sheep.'
Samuel
ordered Jesse, 'Go get him. We're not moving from this spot until he's here.'
Jesse
sent for him. He was brought in, the very picture of health— bright-eyed,
good-looking.
God
said, 'Up on your feet! Anoint him! This is the one.'
Samuel
took his flask of oil and anointed him, with his brothers standing around
watching. The Spirit of God
entered David like a rush of wind, God vitally empowering him for the rest
of his life.
Samuel
left and went home to Ramah.
At
that very moment the Spirit of God
left Saul and in its place a black mood sent by
God settled on him. He was
terrified.”
What absolute disrespect
Eugene H. Peterson has for the Word of God, yet the “Christian World” has
validated him by supporting his “Message” whether directly or indirectly; and
all who publish, endorse, or promote his or Warren's work have become a partaker
of their evil deeds!
We are living in perilous
Times, and this is no time to justify or excuse away your sin, or the sin of
others.
Sin is the doorway into
Darkness, and if you are willing to sin against God, you are putting yourself in
the position to be led astray by those who serve the Devil.
The
end of true faith in the LORD Jesus Christ, is not just the salvation of your
soul, but is the "salvation of souls." And if you do not have a burning
desire in your heart to direct lost souls to Christ, so they can get right with God,
and be saved from sin, Hell and death, you need to seriously consider whether
your faith is in a counterfeit "message."
King James Version of
Ephesians
5:6-8,11
"Let no man deceive you with vain words: For because
of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience. Be
not ye therefore partakers with them.
For ye were sometimes
Darkness, but now are ye Light in the LORD: walk as children of Light...And have
no fellowship with the unfruitful works of Darkness, but rather reprove them."
I was once in a major
deception and I have such a burning desire to warn others about the subtle ways
in which evil men can lead innocent people astray if they are not knowledgeable
of the tactics of the Devil.
God led me to write a letter
and send it to various people and churches so as to warn others about the group
I was involved in; and that letter would become
the first chapter to my
book,
Walking With The Enemy.
I have
been sharing the message God gave me ever since June of 1993, and even though I
had no way of knowing that
NavPress would begin
publishing Eugene H. Peterson's book at that same time, God surely did.
Furthermore, I Am certain it is God's will for me to share my Testimony,
but sometimes I feel like Mary after she saw the LORD. Jesus told her to tell
His disciples that He had risen, and at first they didn't believe
her, and some even ridiculed her, but thankfully they were willing to
repent of their unbelief when they saw the LORD Jesus Christ for themselves.
I have included a letter I wrote to a dear Pastor from the Philippines
who received my
Testimony several years ago, so that maybe you can understand my true motivations. I have not yet
met him face to face, but I hope to meet in that glorious place that God has
prepared for us.
Dated: 30 January 2005
To My Pastor Friend:
"I hope you know that I really
appreciate your response to the Testimony of Jesus Christ in my life. I would
love to remain totally anonymous in this world, and just be someone that God can
use to be a source of strength and encouragement for others like yourself.
I Am so blessed to hear you are
encouraged by the "Message" God has given me to share. There are so many
counterfeit messages going out these days, and it is so wonderful to meet up
with those who are sincere, true, and completely faithful to the LORD.
Thank you so much for your
prayers. And may the LORD be with you and your loved ones−always. We really need
Him! He is such a great and wonderful God, and I pray that the LORD God Almighty
receives all the honour and glory for anything I do that is truly worth doing!
Amen!
Take care!
With the love of Christ,
C. Read"
I have had much
opposition to the work that I Am doing for the LORD, but as long as God allows
me, I will proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ to whomsoever and wherever He
leads me. May you have "ears to hear" the wonderful "message"
God has given me to share with His people.
Prophecy of 28 February 1993
"Many things you have been taught
here has been done in secrecy and in Darkness. You have been taught truth mixed
with lies, and the LORD says it will go on no longer!
And you, Mr. Huff, is the one who
has taught the lies, and the LORD, says it will go on no longer in this home.
The LORD, is giving you a chance to turn from your sin, and He is so forgiving
that He will not hold your sin against you, if you repent. And if you do not,
you will die!
He is my Husband, and I love Him
with a love that cannot be broken. I love you too, but with a brotherly love.
And I beg you to repent!
Everything you have learned here
has been tainted with evil, and you cannot hold on to any of it. The only thing
that you can hold on to is the fact that Jesus Christ died for you, and by His
mighty power, God raised Him from the dead.
If you believe that in your heart,
and claim Him as LORD, He will put the same Spirit that raised Jesus from the
dead inside of you, to lead you and guide you into the Truth!
Light will overshadow Darkness, and
Darkness will not be able to stand in the presence of God!"
